About the Secure Notes
Secure Notes lets you write text notes that are encrypted with a password right in your browser, so your private thoughts, credentials, or sensitive information stay protected. Only someone with the password can read them back.
People jot down sensitive things constantly — account details, recovery codes, private plans — often in plain, unprotected notes. Encrypting them adds a real layer of protection so a stray glance or a compromised device doesn’t expose everything.
All encryption happens client-side, so your note and password never leave your device. As a privacy tool, that’s the whole point: nothing is uploaded, and there’s no account that could be breached.
How to use the Secure Notes
- Type your note into the editor.
- Set a password to encrypt it.
- Encrypt the note to produce protected text.
- Save or copy the encrypted note wherever you keep it.
- Decrypt it later by entering the same password.
Common use cases
- Storing sensitive information like recovery codes privately.
- Keeping a confidential note that others can’t casually read.
- Protecting personal text before saving it somewhere shared.
- Sending a private note that requires a password to open.
Frequently asked questions
How are my notes protected?
Notes are encrypted with a password using client-side encryption, so the readable text can only be recovered by entering the correct password.
What if I forget the password?
There’s no recovery — without the password the note can’t be decrypted. Choose a password you’ll remember or store it safely.
Are my notes stored on a server?
No. Everything happens in your browser, so your note and password never leave your device.
Can I share an encrypted note with someone?
Yes. Share the encrypted text and give the recipient the password through a separate secure channel so they can decrypt it.
How is this different from the File Encryptor?
Secure Notes encrypts text you type, while the File Encryptor protects entire files. Use whichever matches what you need to secure.
